Happy Summer from Fourth Grade
The 2009-2010 school year for the Fourth Grade was filled with many new and exciting things.
Student Council—Nick and Jacob did a fine job representing the class.
Battle of the Books Competition—Six students participated in the annual Battle of the Books. The students went into a tie-breaker round. They came in Fourth Place!
The books for next year’s competition are Diamond Willow, Fablehaven, A Friendship for Today, Schooled, Waiting for Normal, 11 Birthdays, Scat, and Yellow Star. If you are looking for something to read over the summer, you might pick one of the books listed above.
In Social Studies, the students experienced what it was like for the immigrants to go through Ellis Island.
The class went on two interesting field trips. The students saw a performance about the Underground Railroad. They also learned how all the things to make pizza can be found in Will County. Everyone enjoyed a pizza snack afterwards.
During the summer students are encouraged to read daily, keep practicing their math facts, and practice writing in cursive. Keep a journal of how you spend your summer vacation!
Have a fun, relaxing summer!
