Happy Summer from Fourth Grade

The 2007-2008 school year for the Fourth Grade was filled with many new and exciting things.

Student Council—This was the first year that the students were able to pick fellow classmates to represent the class at
Student Council meetings. Dominic and Mikey did a fine job representing the class.

There were several activities to encourage students to read.
The Critic’s Chair-- Several children sat in the chair and told the class about a book that they had read. At the end of the year, the chair was raffled off to anyone who participated.

Reading Programs--Fourteen students participated in the Six Flags Six Hour Reading Club. Seven students participated in the JackHammer Buddies Reading Program.

Battle of the Books—Twelve students participated in the annual Battle of the Books. The competition was held at Holy Family School on April 3, 2008
The books for next year’s competition are Cornelia and the Audacious Escapades of the Somerset Sisters, Penny from Heaven, Rules, Gossamer, Heat, Oh, Rats!: The Story of Rats and People, Project Mulberry, and The Invention of Hugo Cabret. If you are looking for something to read over the summer, you might pick one of the books listed above.

During the summer students are encouraged to read daily, keep practicing their math facts, and practice writing in cursive.

Have a fun, relaxing summer!
